How to make Internet Explorer 8 stop inserting hypertext advertising links in random websites?
Q. When I open a website--any website--with a lot of text in it, Internet Explorer 8 automatically scrolls through all the text and picks a few of the words which it then changes into double-underlined hyperlinks that connect to some random advertiser. The sites it's advertising are unrelated to the website I've got open in any way. I find this exceptionally annoying and really hope someone can tell me how to make it not do that.

A. This is not IE8 that does this. You have spyware. I'd recommend Spybot Search & Destroy to remove it.

Q. When combining a hypertext link with an emphasis tag what rule must be followed with respect to the order of the tags? Sorry for the cutoff.

A. As long as the tags are properly nested, HTML is not sensitive to tag order, but convention dictates that within link tags are only the exact text you want as the link, with formatting tags outside.

A. HTML is used on the website. In fact right now you are reading the result display of html interpreted by your browser. No it doesn't means address bar but however the address bar itself is part of the html display.

A. Microsoft applications carry meta data when you copy and paste links (or table cells) - if you are looking to put the link in a Microsoft Word document, Outlook e-mail message, et cetera, you should be able to copy it from its source in Internet Explorer. Non-Microsoft applications generally do not support this functionality. (Could be considered a good thing or a bad thing, depending upon what you intend to do and how you feel about large amounts of meta data becoming embedded in your documents)

A. it is usually encrypted and goes to port 443 instead of port 80. It is, however, totally possible to run a web server with no SSL on port 443 as well. So just typing https://blahblah.com doesn't by any means ensure the connection is encrypted. Also, you need to check the certificate to make sure you have really visited the correct site and aren't the victim of a man-in-the-middle attack.

A. Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is what allows you to view most web sites including this one. If you get rid of it, you won't be able to browse the Internet. I could tell you how to turn it off... but I would be doing it over the Internet... using HTTP... I think you are confusing HTTP with something else. Provide a better description of your problem and maybe someone will be able to come up with a solution.

Is HTML (hypertext markup language) still essential for a web developer / web designer?
Q. please add some explanation or details. Thank you. Have a great day!

A. Why are all the correct answers got horribly thumb downs? lol? Anyways, yes, HTML is needed no matter what and used in every website. Even in Flash websites. But the web designers shouldn't be worrying about HTML because the only thing they do is 'design', not code. HTML is the core of all the websites. Then you add CSS/PHP/ASP.NET codes or anything into it.

A. Yahoo has been having major server issues since at LEAST Jan. 10, seemingly just with particular servers. And what's happening to you is unfortunately one of the many problems that people are having because of them, and Yahoo doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry to solve them. And the problems are not just w/Yahoo Beta or IE7; I and others not using either are having similar problems. But both do have more problems; if you're using Beta, it's still in the testing stage and has a lot of problems, so go back to original Yahoo mail, and the same w/IE7, go back to IE6 until MS irons out all the problems. I've had to use another acct.provided free by my ISP to send/rcv important e-mails since Jan. 10, and it's been working just fine the… [cont.]

A. HTTP is what you use to connect to webpages... for example. HTTP://answers.yahoo.com More technically, it connects using TCP to remote servers on port 80 and sometimes 443. HTTP is most often used for browsing the web. I can get more specific if you need me to.

A. Simple steps to downloading virus & spyware protection (& steps for protecting PC) For XP Use the programs twice once without internet on, and once with it running. The only program that will work in safemode F8 is AVG anti-spy ware. Also go to control panel, internet options-privacy tab-make sure the popup blocker box is checked. Move the slider bar to med-high-click apply-OK Also on control panel-system-Remote-make sure both boxes are unchecked-click apply-OK (this will keep hackers from getting into computer when left on and no one is around or home) (all other virus programs and spyware programs should be deleted) avg for virus protection avg anti for spyware, MALWARE, rootkits both found at or go to yahoo and enter in search… [cont.]

Basically I am talking about a program that displays text on screen that has highlighted links to other parts of the text. Common hypertext programs you will come across are the Windows Help files and HTML reader use on the web and built into Internet Explorer. I can not say with certainty that all hypertext programs work like this but I do know some do, one was call PC Help. First the text that is to be displayed on screen is written along with special characters that told the hypertext compiler that some kind of control code (Colour change, text format such as centring the text) or memory offset pointer to… [cont.]
